1920s - “So, what are we doing?” “Crime!”
After fighting in the trenches of the Great War, Malcolm Reynolds and Zoe Washburne open a restaurant in Manhattan. Serenity’s a bit dingy and a lot disreputable-looking, but it is a front for a speakeasy and other not-so-legal enterprises. Jayne Cobb’s intimidatin’ person makes public relations a breeze, and no one on the East Coast is half the getaway driver Hoban “Wash” Washburne is. Kaylee Frye’s young, but she’s a genius when comes to keeping Serenity running. Good thing too, no one else has a clue how restaurants and speakeasies work. Inara Serra lends the operation some respectability. Can’t be too bad a place if you’ve got a talented jazz singer, right? Things get a little complicated when the Tam siblings come crashing through with the Bureau of Investigation hot on their heels. Simon gave up a glittering surgical career to break River out of a fancy government-funded boarding school upstate. He says they were messing with her mind. Whether or not that’s true, she’s definitely a bit in the way of Zelda Fitzgerald. It’s a heap of trouble, but the crew doesn’t have to explain gunshot wounds to nosy nurses anymore. For some reason, Derrial Book’s hanging around, and he knows an awful lot about shady folk and their ways for a pastor. Not much they can do about that: the guy’s a real help. Still, it ain’t easy. Plans never go smooth and it’s a bit too easy to catch a bullet between the eyes, especially when everyone in town thinks you’re a man of honor in a den of thieves. But at the end of the day, after they’ve outrun cops and outgunned competition, they still got Serenity. It ain’t much, but it’s enough.
I really want “Can You Dig It” to be the theme of Rhodey and Tony’s buddy cop TV show. They just cruise around LA in a big ass hot rod, solvin’ crimes, arresting West Coast Avengers villains, checkin’ out babes in bikinis. Then they roll into the precinct where Chief Potts has HAD ENOUGH OF THEIR DEVIL MAY CARE ATTITUDE. ONE MORE STRIKE AND YOU BOYS ARE OUTTA HERE

Bruce is the ME who seems all calm and zen and level
and whose morgue always smells vaguely of pot what?but if you screw up he goes absolutely BATSHIT and all the rookies are terrified of him. But Tony likes to poke him with pens and stuff and keeps threatening to bust him for weed, but never actually would, and Rhodey just rolls his eyes a lot and has to shut Tony up so they can actually get their evidence, pretty please and thank you?Natasha and Clint are part of the SWAT team, with Coulson as the super-calm team leader and Maria Hill as their captain/chief. (Fury is obviously the commissioner.) Clint won’t stop flirting with CSI Bobbi Morse, even though she won’t give him the time of day.
jane foster runs the csi lab, and yes she’s hard to udnerstand sometimes BECAUSE SCIENCE and some of her methods are weird, and the DA despairs of her homemade testing kits making it into court evidence, and jane’s ex-intern darcy lewis, who got her poli-sci degree, and said ‘fuck this’,and got her PI license too, and now she keeps turning up around the police station, snitching files, mining for information, flirting with rookies who don’t know better, and occasionally handing off tips on cases, that she’s acquired in a maybe slightly-less-than-legal-definitely-not-admissible-in-court manner, oh god kari, I NEED THIS THING.
au where tony is a really avant garde michilen star chef who does crazy shit with LIQUID NITROGEN and FOAMS and MENTAL TASTE COMBINATIONS and steve is a classically trained chef who has turned his back on the snobbery of the classical kitchen to make food affordable and bruce is one of those guys who seems super quiet but once he’s in the kitchen he shouts at you in french and throws pans everywhere and shit and shield is a really weird high concept restaurant where like all the food is served in the dark and the menu is a secret and natasha and clint probably COOK IT IN THE DARK TOO and obviously thor is making BIG BOLD TRENDY NORWEIGAN FUSION FOOD NEW KID ON THE BLOCK OOH
and they all unite against loki who is an overly critical food critic I guess

(Actually I think Steve is the guy who left after high school to see the world and came back and opened a little diner that’s all comfort food and Tony goes in for old times sake not expecting much but is blown away and then he can’t stop coming over ALL THE TIME, ostensibly because Steve refuses to tell Tony the secret ingredient in his killer apple pie but NOBODY’S FOOLED.)
I would definitely regret this later…I don’t even read Supernatural, and I want a gaming AU so badly now. I love this art. A lot.

She can still smell the gunpowder clinging to his clothes; there’s blood under his fingernails, and a purple-blue brass knuckle bruise shines along his right hand as he taps his fingers against the polished tabletop. Tipping back the last of his drink, never taking his eyes off her face, Barnes grins around the crystal, but his teeth are too sharp for it to be anything but a sneer.
Natasha crosses her arms, not waiting for whatever half-truth he’s going to try and ply her with. She’s spent weeks tracking him here, following the trail of slick-red smiling throats and broken legs, and she’s ready to finish this.
“You have something I want.”
There’s the click of a gun somewhere behind her, and he still doesn’t look away, setting his glass carefully onto the table before he points a black-gloved finger in her direction.
“I’m afraid, darling, that I’m holding all of the cards.”
Cold metal presses against the back of her skull, the barrel of some lackey’s gun tangled in her hair, and when she raises her hands up from her pockets, something like surrender, she drops a small, empty vial onto the edge of his table.
“Not all of them.” She smiles back, a crimson smear across her face.
“You’ve got five minutes, and something tells me you’re not quite ready to go all in.”
A look back at how this particular day has changed Clint and Phil’s lives.
Guys. Guys. This chapter is longer than some stories I’ve written. Combined.
Kate and I may have gotten a little carried away with our love of Phil and Clint. We regret nothing.
This chapter is a whole lotta chapter but in all the best ways. I had one hell of a time writing it and I know Sara did too.
It just sort of … ballooned, is all. (Again: regret NOTHING.)
